Thanks to the support of the community, the George I. Theisen Family YMCA provided in excess of $60,000 in financial assistance through Open Doors to youth and families in 2009. Through gifts to the Open Doors Financial Assistance Program, our branch makes its services available to hundreds in our community each year. Program participants with a financial need are encouraged to apply for financial assistance for any portion of the Y program fee that is not affordable.
How you can help:
You can help open a door for someone in need by making a pledge to the campaign.
By pledging you are giving someone in your community the opportunity to be a part of the wellness programs, childcare services, day camps and sports activities. Many folks in Travelers Rest are in need now more than ever. Your pledge will help us keep our promise to always keep the door open to everyone, regardless of financial ability to pay.
Our goal:
We have set our goal at $48,500! Through support from friends and the Y family we have met our set goal. However, as you know from reading the previous information, we annually give away more than we’ve raised. Volunteer campaigners have set out to talk to others about making an investment in our community by pledging to Open Doors. This 50+ volunteer team from our Y are making a difference in the lives of others. Will you do the same?
Pledge online today at http://www.ymcagreenville.org and click on “Make a donation.” Choose the George I. Theisen YMCA at the drop down box to ensure your pledge stays in YOUR community.
