Charles Harris with Quick Response, LLC(Article by James Richardson with the TRTribune.com.) On Tuesday evening, Charles Harris was named as the “Business Person of the Year” by the Travelers Rest Area Business Association. Each year, the award is given to a business person who has made a positive impact in the community.

Harris, owner of Quick Response, LLC, was recognized for volunteering his time at the T.R. Fire Department and helping to stage the annual T.R. Christmas parade. In addition, he is a supporter of the YMCA's Open Doors Campaign and a member of the North Greenville Hospital Advisory Council.

Harris was chosen as this year's award winner by a committee of six Carolina First employees from all over Greenville County. Each committee member individually selected and ranked his/her top three candidates. The rankings were then compiled, and the winner was determined by the highest total ranking.

The event, sponsored by Carolina First, was held at the Venue at Renfrew and was catered by Good Life Catering. Russ Stall, Executive Director of Greenville Forward, was the guest speaker.

At an event held at the Hartness Pavillion on the Furman University campus, Dr. James E. Barnett, Sr. was announced as the Travelers Rest Area Business Association's “Citizen of the Year” for 2010.

The award, which aims to recognize residents of northern Greenville County who have demonstrated excellent citizenship and contributed to our community, was presented by Bank of Travelers Rest President and CEO Bruce White.

“Certainly, our citizen of the year meets all of the qualifications, and then some,” said White.

Dr. Barnett, a lifelong resident of northern Greenville County, has been practicing medicine in Travelers Rest for forty-eight years. He was one of the few doctors that made house calls and was willing to meet his patients after-hours.
