Citizen of the Year Nominations

E-mail Print

It is time to begin thinking about our upcoming Citizen of the Year event to be held November 9th, 2010.  We have not yet determined our Venue, but wanted each of you to begin your consideration for your “2010” nominees.

As you are aware, The Citizen of the Year is an annual event sponsored by The Bank of Travelers Rest, which recognizes a person(s) who has continually given back to the Northern Greenville County Community.  Please take the time in your busy days ahead to complete a nomination form or several nomination forms and return them to Anne Jones or Tim McCarty by October 20th.  Area churches will be receiving their nomination forms and a letter encouraging them to participate in this event.  We appreciate your care and consideration in nominating “The Citizen of the Year, 2010.”

I have attached the nomination form for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Anne C. Jones
Assistant Vice-President
Bank of Travelers Rest

Award sponsored by the Bank of Travelers Rest

Our “Citizen of the Year,” Mr. Clyde Carr, has been described as “A hard working man of astute character who maintains a consistent example in his daily walk and is always willing to help others with a pleasant character and self-less giving way”.

He has been active in the Travelers Rest and surrounding area for as long as most of us can remember as a business owner, through his involvement with his church, as a community leader and as a supporter of local charities.

He has served on the board of the YMCA for Northern Greenville County and currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the North Greenville Food Crisis Ministry.

Dot Bishop receives Citizen of the Year HonorsMrs. Dot Bishop

The Travelers Rest Area Business Association proudly announces Mrs. Dot Bishop as our 2008 Citizen of the Year. Sponsored by the Bank of Travelers Rest, this prestigious award recognizes one citizen each year who has worked consistently to make Travelers Rest a better place to live, work and play. Mrs. Bishop, formerly a teacher and guidence counselor at Travelers Rest High School, has worked diligently all her life to enhance the lives of those living in the North County area. Most recently, she has been the leader in gathering artifacts for the Bicentennial celebration of our City, and has been most instrumental in the organization of the new Travelers Rest Historical Society, who's goal is to preserve our past for our future.

Please join us in congratulating Dot Bishop as our Citizen of the Year, 2008.
