New SC Immigration Law in Effect January 1

E-mail Print

The South Carolina legislature has amended the South Carolina “Illegal Aliens and Private Employment” law to require that every employer verify their new hires through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s E-Verify system beginning January 1, 2012. Employers who fail to comply can lose the right to operate their businesses. The South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (LLR) is charged with conducting random audits of employers to assure compliance.

TR Police Toy Drive

E-mail Print

Calling all TRABA members...we need your help!

As we all realize, the economy has been very difficult for many families in our community.  For 11 years, our TR Police Dept has held a Toy Drive and assisted those families whose children would not know Christmas without their help.  This year, our police department is receiving an ever greater number of requests, and we're asking all TRABA members to help them out, with a donation of unwrapped toys or cash (a check works, and would give you the receipt for your donation).  Our TRPD Toy Drive, unlike most others, does not cut children off at age 13, and the cash is used to purchase gift cards for teens at stores such as Old Navy, etc.

If you are at all able to help with this need, please contact LouAnn East at City Hall: 834-7958, or if you already have a toy or some $$$, drop it by City Hall.  Deadline for donations is Dec 15, but the earlier you can donate, the better it will be.

Thank you for your generosity.
